Should the timing belt be changed on a 2010 vw polo even tho the car was hardly ever driven. Only 15,000 on the clock? BTW anybody know the expected market value? it's a 1.2l petrol 3 door in almost perfect (a couple of tiny shopping trolley type scratches). AFAIK It had a service about a year ago. Ive been asked to sell it for a neighbour who is now too old and frail to drive it but I think I will buy it myself so want to offer her the fair market price.

Probably about 20% or so more than the average price of one for sale private that year.

3 doors will limit the market for it a good bit.

It might have a timing chain rather than belt depending on engine.

Average mileage for that car is about 85k miles. So you are well below the average. That said, it's a 6 year old car, so although it attracts a premium it's not astronomical and the 3 door variant will close up your potential buyers for sure. Open market for that car is guiding €9k or so.

1.2 litre petrol engine in them has a timing chain afaik so should not need changing unless it's making noise.

What's the service history like on the car? The problem with a lot of low mileage cars is that they infrequently get a service. I'd hate to think that the car never had an oil change in 5 years.
