Car insurance question?

Just checking if anyone has set up something similar. I am finished soon with company car, I was planning on just renewing but as it get closer I am starting to wonder should I or just go for personal car

Big question is insurance. I am checking with insurance companies to see if they will take into consideration my company car no claims but 2 already have said they won't....

My better half has always had his own car without any claims etc on it. I am already a named driver on his policy, both of us have no penalty points.

I havent priced yet but I would guess my insurance will be massive with no claims bonus.

Someone said at weekend why don't I just add another car to his policy and have myself as named driver. Is this actually possible? Just wondering does anyone do this? Is there any disadvantages?

I think your partner will find it difficult/impossible to add a second car to his policy (I was outright refused, but I've known it to work). In any case, if you're the primary user of the vehicle, it's not allowed to get it insured in someone else's name, there's even a name for it "fronting" https://www.google.ie/search?q=insurance+fronting&ie=utf-8

You need to ring a bunch of insurers. It's not inconceivable that you get a No Claims Bonus on the basis of named driving (I got full NCB 3 years ago, on basis of 15 years named driver experience) and/or company car use. But you'll only likely get this on phone as the online forms can be a bit rigid (whereas a sales agent has the discretion to consult the risk team and get a decision made). Also, until you know what you're being quoted you don't know what the impact of no/limited NCB is (it's a percentage of the premium, the worse your base premium is the bigger a deal it is to have no NCB).

    Good place to start:

Thanks, I was thinking there was something which wouldn't allow me just to put car onto his policy.
