Came across this club and I see it's based out of the K Club. It's a pay and play club! Sounds too good to be true. How come this seems to be very low key? I'd never heard of it previously. Or is there a catch. €200 a year seems like great value.

It has been around for some time.
It's 200 to get your GUI basically, it's €50-60 quid a round then on top of that. So if you're playing any golf at all, it doesn't make much sense.

It started up in the days when getting into clubs around Dublin was next to impossible so it was an alternative to the "country membership" route to a GUI. Started out based at Citywest if I remember rightly.
Hard to see how it makes sense these days.

Spot on First Up. Started in Citywest. Plays out of the Smurfit Course at the K Club. Always wondered was it possible to have two golf clubs playing out of the same course? As the lads said if your playing regularly can be worth checking out the payment plan options for other clubs of interest (could work out a bit cheaper per month if your playing a bit!).

Two clubs on the one course is common in Scotland and there are/have been instances here. Two that come to mind are the "Artisans" who play out of the Grange and Kiltiernan had their own competitions in Powerscourt for a few years until they migrated and merged with the old South County.

Others may know of other cases.

Don't the various universities play out of other affiliated clubs?

Up North both Royal County Down and Portrush have 2 clubs that share the same course. Their is the main club and a second "locals" club, usually limited to people who live in the local town.

GMac grew up playing for Rathmore the 2nd club in Portrush
