Revenue cheque not cleared yet

    Hi there,

I am self-employed and around 20th of October I posted my income tax cheque to Collector-General in Limerick and my bank account hasn't been cleared yet. Should I be worried? Will I have to pay extra interest on late payment? I don't know what to think about it. It's my first time so I am not familiar with this entire procedure/timing. If it's important my letter with the cheque wasn't registered, and inside was just cheque.

    Best,

I may be reading your post wrong, but are you saying you just put a cheque in an envelope and sent it to Revunue with no covering letter?

Or maybe it was Payslip with Single Debit Authority - sorry.

    What covering letter?

I got assessment from revenue and payslip included to be filled in and sent to CG - that what instruction said on the back.

Note on the back about cheques: All cheques should be made payable to Collector-General and forwarded to Sarsfield House, Francis Street, Limerick - So what do you mean?

Ok so you didn't send them a cheque so?

What I meant by covering letter was a letter written by yourself explaining what the enclosed cheque was for.

I'm in the same boat as you. I also posted my payslip around the same time by registered post to limerick and the money has not left my account yet either. Although the wording on the single debit authority said the money wouldn't go out before 31st October. So I'm not too worried yet...

No sorry that was a payslip. But still my bank account hasn't been cleared...

Ah so good to know that I'm not the only one. Thanks @flower girl 101 :)

Revenue are up to their eyes with the income tax deadline at the moment. Expect things to be on slow mode for the next month.

My father found that one of his cheques was held for an extremely long time earlier in the year - March or April ish. It was acknowledged as received when he phoned them but appeared to be held over to another month.
