Any advice? Go for another diesel?

I bought a 05 Peugeot 407 1.5l diesel about 2 years ago. Not a grear car. In spite of regular servicing everything that could go wrong did go wrong. The turbo finally went last night so I'm looking at my options regarding a replacement car.

My daily round-trip work commute has dropped from 160km to 90km. Is it worth sticking with diesel? I know 90km a day is still a hefty enough slog but I don't know if the fuel savings will offset the price difference (and the frustration of finding a reasonably priced diesel)

I drive a 406 Peugeot HDi. I did not expect it to be as good, but I really like it. I guess it is cheaper and more reliable than the 407 (especially the engine). And the fuel economy is excellent.

The 406 was a way better car than the 407 that replaced it.

OP, what sort of journey is your 90km daily trip? Is it mostly motorway driving or stop/start city type driving? If it's mostly motorway driving then sticking with a diesel should be fine or consider a hybrid. If your doing mostly city driving then best avoid a modern diesel, a hybrid again would be more suitable.

Lack of servicing fcuks the turbo in them, oil starvation to turbo.
