Beading problem

    Hi lads,

I use Collinite 845 when I wax the car. When it rains, the water beads on the wax (as expected) but when it dries I'm left with water spots all over the car where the beads of water were.

Is there an alternative product that provides the protection of a good wax but doesn't leave water bead marks?

    Thanks

After a bit of googling it appears that sealants don't bead water like wax does.

Is that correct and if so can someone recommend a good sealant that doesn't cause water beading please?

My car is a black Ford in case it's relevant.

You want a product that sheets away water rather than bead it like the wax you have. Generally, yes a sealant will be more like what you are looking for.

Have a look at a few videos of CarPro Reload, very simple to use and will be much more like what you want! ;)

However, you will always have water marks, but some will offer a lot less. The only way to rectify it, is to run out and dry the car after the rain shower! ;)

This might sound silly OP but it all depends on where the rain came from (and don't say the sky). If the weather is coming up from the south or south east, the rain originates over Africa. This means there is quite a lot of very fine sand and dust suspended in the rain water. When this falls on the car and evaporates, the sand/dust remains, leaving the marks.

If the rain comes from the east, it has quite a lot of soot from the heavy industry in Russia. The best you can hope for is the rain coming from the North or north west where the rain originates from over the Atlantic, or go rinse the rain water off the car (assuming you are not in a hard water area)

I have Soft 99's Fusso on my car as a sealant and it sheets and beads very well, there's very little water marks left by the beads!

I have Carpro HydrO2 on mine at the moment and it's still beading well. I notice now that the wether is getting colder and people are starting to light fires there are a lot more spot marks on the car though.

Water spots are inevitable with muck in air getting caught in rain, as said above unless your at the door ready to dry car at every break in rain you will get spots somewhere on car.

Thanks guys. I'll try a sealant rather than a wax and let you know if it makes any difference.

Beading is not the be all and end all you know.
I have carpro CQUK on my car at the moment and it is like a Race to get into the car when it is wet before I disturb and beads, when they start rolling they are like snowballs gaining in size as they roll across the roof and straight into the car :D

A product that Sheets instead might not be a bad idea for the wet months .
