Painting child's room...questions

We are about to tackle some paint jobs in our children's bedrooms.
They are both currently very safe colours (Icelandic Blue in a large gable-windowed attic south-facing room, and the 2nd is a pale yellow in a west-facing Veluxed medium-sized room).

Now when I show them the books of course they are both going for the brightest strongest colours they can find. And they want it all over! :D I'm not as keen . I have said I will give them a few bits of brightness, but that the majority base colours will be less hectic than those they have picked out. I was thinking of doing feature walls where I could encompass some of their chosen colours like bright orange on a pale blue base, and maybe a strong turquoise over a pale yellow or off-white, with maybe some various-sized stripes or large stencils.

Is it best to put these feature walls on the window wall that you see when you walk into the room, or facing the window where they get more sunshine? Or maybe it really doesn't make a difference......?

Any pointers would be much appreciated as I am venturing into unchartered territory here  And I so want to get it right and make them proud of their rooms and what their mom can do. :)

The window wall would be the best area for the feature wall as the colour is broken by the window.
Paint that the strong colour the kids want and choose a paler colour for the rest of the room.
