Great training cycle G. Look after all the "little bits and pieces" now to capitalise on your good work. Only pressure on you now is the Race Report

    Sunday 22nd

    7.5 miles

got late entry to Virgin run in the dark, so plan had 16 easy or 10k race, got in nice and early and did mile or w/u but we had
to be in section for 8.45 with 9.30 start so lot of waiting around, really congested start to race lots of jog walk stop for first 500m
then lost of weaving to find space.

    Mile 1-3 splits 7.35, 7.00,6.59

pain of a start but jigged around people and got in staggered rhythm, started to get little less congested when we got on quays
got comfortable rhythm going here and going really well, but getting little bit of feed back from Achilles, but not to bad. got
shout out from FBOT at end mile 3.

    Mile 4-6 splits 8.50,8.26,7.59

about 200m into mile 4 calf locked up and became sore stopped to stretch out, still sore but thought could run off, limped ran jogged
rest of the way home to 49mins. when finished calf completely sized up, got hme and iced, bit foam rolling, compression on all night
Voltarol and nurofen this morning really stiff and sore, physio booked for Morning and hopefully not to serious. should have stuck with
easy 16 as have been feeling bit tightness and am only reminded of my earlier post about TLC all they way to start of Marathon.
    totally pissed off with myself.

Hope that calf is okay G!

sH!t G. Just caught up on last few long runs and was actually ok with being injured as would be in bits if on same plan and see you flying with it.

Don't panic about calf, you've done the right thing by not postponing and going to the physio so take it easy and I REALLY hope everything is ok.

Argh! Take it super easy, best of luck with the physio.

Jaysis G. Fingers and everything crossed for you.

Hey G, you looked pretty comfortable when I saw you. Bummer that calf locked up afterwards. You know the deal just take it handy do all the things you are doing but nothing too extreme. It could just be a hydration issue or as simple as the fact that you are an early morning runner so system didn't know what was going on last night. The most important one is to give it a good rest with gentle stretching, rolling, etc until you see the physio tomorrow.

plus 1 to all the above G, hang in there, it'll come right.

Hopefully just some rest required and a bit of tlc from physio. I've had very minor calf strain in the past - the physio dry needled it (ouch) , applied ultra sound and after a 2/3 days I could resume running at a steady pace including long runs etc . Calf been good ever since !

Would have been no bother to You A, hope you are still looking after your
    rehab.

have been stretching gently all day and has eased little, was just getting good rhythm going when passed you and thinking about 44xx mins and
even better if I killed last mile, then 200m later agh!

Hope not too serious G. If it does require treatment, in my experience dry needling ( if available to you) works quite quick compared to manual therapy.

This wasn't what I had in mind when encouraging you to mind "all the bits and pieces" before the big day:eek:.

Plenty of time on the taper to manage the healing G. Take care.

All the work's done now G, so no harm in resting it. Take it easy!
