    Hi Folks,

Threw a warning today "coolant stop warning." My other half reported it so didn't see it but it came on start up in the morning. It was parked on our drive with a bit of an incline, not usually parked there but not unknown. Checked levels when I came home all fine, started it and ran for a while no message and then drove for 5 mins no message.

Middle of moving house so no time to bring to mechanic but any thoughts on what it could be? Sensor issue ?

    Cheers,
    MAJJ

    Possibly air in the system.
    When was last coolant change?
    Does heater blow hot air?

edit, seems to be a known issue on cold mornings according to google, maybe is the sensor as you said.

    try this http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=89871.0

If you are getting the warning on cold startup despite the coolant level being correct then the first thing you should do is try cleaning the probes on the level sensor.

If you take off the coolant cap and look down into the expansion tank you will see 2 long straight pieces of metal which should be submerged in coolant (if the level is correct of course). Give these a good scrape with a long screwdriver or similar to clean off any residue that may be causing spurious warnings.

Very often that does the job, if not then a new expansion tank may be needed but they are cheap from VW (€30 or so)

^^^ Yep try this. I used my toothbrush to clean the probes and the light didn't come back again.

Also a speed warning light came on . Ive read this is something to do with tire pressure being low ? But it only went through NCT a few days ago
