Overpayment and paying back

Wondering if anyone can help. Short story is the DSP messed up calculations for my payments and over payed me by 1000 because it took them 5 months to sort out switching me from one payment to another and they never took into consideration that I was getting payments for the college course I'm doing. I used it to pay bills and debts, thinking it was owed to me of course! Now they want it back. Of course that's only right but will they expect the whole lot or will they take an amount each week? I'm a lone parent and student and don't have it. As I said it was used to clear debts and bills. I didn't book a holiday or go on the beer!

They can legally take up to 15% of your weekly payments ,
chances that's what they will ask for gone are the days where people say they can only afford €2/€3 per week
