Verizon / Vodafone share transfer / sale

For a shareholder who currently reinvests dividends, the transfer to Verizion US will mean transaction fees will start to apply. Is it worth allowing the transfer to go ahead or just sell them?

If selling, the low-cost dealing service will cost £12.50GBP per holding (three held)- each holding is worth £30GBP so the dealing cost represents about 40% of the value of each one! Is there a cheaper method of disposal?

Selling the Vodafone shares would be subject to the standard dealing cost of £20GBP per holding (three held), the value of each being £70GBP so the dealing cost would again be disproportionately high.

Any suggestions as to whether to hold on to the Verizon and/or Vodafone shares and for a cheaper disposal method?

    Thanks in advance

Hi, did you get anymore info for this?
I got the following email and will have to decide what option to take.:

    Dear Shareholder,

We recently sent you a letter from Verizon Communications Inc. (“Verizon”) advising you of their intention to close the Verizon Nominee Account (the “VNA”) administered by Computershare of which you are a participant.

    When the VNA is closed:

    you will need to handle your share account via the USA;
    you will need to complete US paperwork should ever want to sell your shares;
you will need to contact the US call centre for any queries and you will receive proceeds from any sale in US dollars.

If you are happy with this, you do not need to take any action. If you do not want to manage your shares via the USA, then up to Tuesday 23 February 2016, to sell them using a low-cost dealing service or you can transfer to another Broker in the UK or the US.

The Dealing service can be used online by visiting the web address below and entering your Shareholder Reference Number and unique PIN also detailed below.

    www.computershare.co.uk/VZdealing

Alternatively, you can complete and return the low cost share dealing form which you received with your original letter by the 17 February 2016.

    Yours faithfully

    Computershare Investor Services PLC

    Another bit of info:

Please note the value of shares may go down as well as up, which may result in you receiving less than you originally invested.

Verizon Communications Inc. (“Verizon”) is offering you the opportunity to sell your shares at a competitive rate or donate your sale proceeds to the charity ShareGift.

Alternatively, you may wish to use the standard Computershare Nominee Telephone or Internet Dealing facility at their standard commission rates of 1% plus £25 for telephone dealing and 1% subject to a minimum charge of £20 for internet dealing.

    ____________________________________________________________

    Verizon On-line Share Dealing Service
    Service Summary
If you wish to sell all your shares or donate your share sale proceeds, your instruction should be received by 2.00pm on the day prior to the dealing day, any received after will be included in the next dealing day. For inclusion in the last dealing day your instruction must be received by no later than 2.00pm on 17 February 2016.

    Your Options:
    1. Sell ALL your shares
    2. Retain your shareholding in Verizon - no action required - log out
    3. Donate ALL your share sale proceeds to the charity ShareGift

A transaction fee of 0.5% subject to a minimum of £12.50/€17.00.

I am in the same situation. With the charges applying, I might end up owing money to them.
The charges are confusing. In one place, it mentions 0.5% in one area and 1% in another, along with minimum fees.
This was my first and last forray into Share Dealing.
Sound, Mary O'Rourke for all this. Plus, selling Eircom has resulted in a shambles of a Communications/Broadband service nationwide.

Anyone know if its possible to transfer the Vodafone ones to the likes of degiro?

I'm tempted to ring them up and get rid.

Already told them to dump the Verizon ones via the online facility, too much hassle.

    Vodafone share dealing offer
Sell up to 1000 shares for max fee of €42

    Got this in post recently...

Form says I've 343 ordinary shares..share price is currently £2.08
    My maths says 343 x €3.70 (approx) = €1269 - €42 = €1227 payout
if that's the case its fantastic and Im on it.......or am I missing something here?

Unfortunately yes - their share price is around €2.69 so about €343 less than your total.

I just came in here 'cos Verizon have send me another final notice. Our shares are miniscule so no big money involved. But I don't want this few euros to cost me more euros than the shares are worth - (they state if you hold less than 12 shares it could cost you more than they are worth). So is there any advice about Verizon - best to get rid would you say?? Don't suppose there is any slim chance that if I let them sit, in 50 years time my kids would have a bonanza after I'm gone? Those 'Mary O'Rourke Shares', as I call them, were the only investment I ever made, thankfully only by the smallest amount. I know people who lost a hell of a lot more than me.

I sold my vodafone shares and got a cheque in the post today. Worth it, just to not get the huge annual reports!

How long did it take from sale to cheque?

Anyone else sell a small amount of shares. Sold 60 and was advised there would be no fees however Computershare deducted €12.60 dealing fee and €2.48 currency conversion commission so 10% taken in fees. I presumed they would have issued the cheque in sterling and I did not authorise them to convert to euro. Daylight robbery as most small investors only sold because of the no fees.

Not sure to be honest, the amount was so small it wasn't something I was thinking about but I reckon 3 weeks.
