Forgot to put this up a few days ago but Attenborough's new 7-part series started last night on BBC One @9pm in typically awesome form (though the croc / wilderbeast scene was nothing new if you've watched a lot of his docs) with some fantastic shots.

The series will focus on numerous species and their techniques / fight for hunting food. Last night's episode had a fantastic piece on a particular spider's ability :pac:

The wild dogs hunt was fantastic. Marvelous animals. Machines.

Surprised this isnt getting more attention. Just watched the first ep after catching the 2nd when it aired last week. Your right, the wild dogs (are the hyenas?) hunt the wildebeast was incredible, stawking threw the grass with their evil little heads on them, half way through and the pack seperate to try for the two lone wildebeast and they defend by standing head to toe side by side, what a moment. The first scene with the leopard was also great. Never mind the latest blockbuster, this is what hd was made for.

Just like 'planet earth' this is the pinnacle of documentary photography/filmograpghy (i dont know the right word). The polar bear jumping for the seal last week was a sight to behold. The narative , i dont know how much is clever editing but its brilliantly told and put together and david attenborough is always an added bonus to any documentary.

This looks fantastic. I haven't watched it yet, but really looking forward to it.

I have watched a "behind the scenes" type show which was awesome. I didn't realise it was related to a David Attenborough documentary.

The camera work is out of this world and the camera teams being in the right place at the right time is extraordinary.

Anybody missed episode 3 (Forests), then it is repeated on Sunday at 4:50pm and episode 4 (Oceans) is on at 9pm, both BBC1.

I've thoroughly enjoyed this series, really top notch. There is only one episode left, titled 'Living with Predators (Conservation)'. It seems like it will deviate from the other episodes, but no doubt it'll be worth watching.

    From bbc.co.uk:
The final episode of the series visits the frontline of the conflict with the world's top predators, meeting the scientists fighting to save them. Crossing five continents and combining landmark natural history footage with real-life human drama, it checks the pulse of the earth's iconic animals, including lions, tigers, polar bears and blue whales.
With three-quarters of the planet's carnivores now in decline, can people find ways to live with predators before they disappear forever?

That was truly an astonishing production. Myself and the kids have watched each episode every Sunday night. I'm fortunate enough to have an excellent TV and a surround sound system and the picture and sound quality was second to none.

Genuinely one of the most fascinating documentaries I've watched in a long time. Particular note goes to the Darwin spider in episode 1 and the sardine feast in episode 4 was a joy to watch.
