    Hi All

We've a quote in from company to do the following:

    New gas boiler: - either a Bosch Greenstar 24 I or a Viessmann Vitodens 200-w 26w
New hot water cylinder: 120L factory insulated quick recovery
3 zones: - upstairs, downstairs and hot water
And fit the new control panel. And chemical flush the rads (not a power flush I see on the quote breakdown. The rads are 21 years old, would a power flush be recommended?).

The current house is a 4 bed semi with an old gas boiler and there are no zones or motorised valves or thermostats of any kind in the house.

The price is coming it at around 3K net of grants.

I can break this down as the Boiler supply and fit being €1900, Works to retrofit the zones and controls about €1800 and supply and fit the cylinder €600 -

Subtract the grants and electric ireland incentive credits we can get as customers, comes to 3k

Chemical flushes Rot me to be honest. There a complete waste of money and time. I've been back to plenty of systems that have been chemically flushed and had to do the job properly by Powerflushing it.
Chemical flush usually means the installer doesn't own a Powerflushing machine.

Can the lack of power flush mean rads don't heat to optimum ?

So lets say they dont powerflush, we could get a poweflush done by another company in advance. Is it generally worth the expense?

Im going to ask the company for a price on a power flush also, and ill send out more requests for quotes over the weekend

If a company doesn't include a proper powerflush with good chemicals in its original quote then you'd have to question the quality of workmanship

Yes but more importantly it means youre guaranteed your shiny new expensive boiler is installed onto a clean system

Sounds like a wise move. Have you any recommendations for companies to undertake what we are looking to get done? As in the whole shebang, what I listed above and a powerflush

Following a boiler install I've bled a rad an the water is dirty.
Is the water in the rads usually clear / clean after a power flush .

It should be clean. You might get a small bit of black for the first few seconds of bleeding
