Anyone ever used these? Want to go to NYC for my wedding anniversary next year, and would like to get flight vouchers for my hubby for Xmas. Would just book the holiday directly, but can't get travel prices for dates i want to go until January - (need something to put under the Xmas tree!)

Are they a safe bet or are they restrictive enough?

Just give him cash in a card and tell him to buy flights with it, same thing without half the bother or restrictions. Liveline had stories about them yesterday.

Why dont you mock up a voucher or similiar yourself. When you come to book you might find another airline are cheaper but you are then stuck with no airline.

They are the stupidest vouchers going.

If you buy them in Euros you can only use them for flight originating from Euro Countries.

They only last for 1 year, so if you have to put off the flight you have a limited time to use it.

If your going to the US you cannot use it on flights where one leg is operated by another carrier (e.g. Jet Blue)

You can only use them on the name of the person the voucher is for.

Only one voucher can be used per transaction

I would recommend you make a nice letter with an IOU for the trip in question, do not give Aer Lingus a penny of your money until you actually go to directly book the flights in question.

Well according to Joe Duffy, Liveline, yesterday, definitely not. He said they were the biggest scam ever !

I thought they were dodgy enough when you couldn't use the voucher to secure the fare deposit thing, but now i don't think ill bother. Thanks lads :-)

Stay well clear of these vouchers, they are unbelieveably restrictive. We got a voucher (quite a decent value, too) from a group of friends for our wedding and the hassle we had using it was ridiculous. Avoid, Avoid, Avoid !!
