    know this might not be a cycling issue as such but I use map my ride to log my cycles. can't afford a garmin and strava eats up my phone so I just log it when I get home. last few days though when I try log a workout, it won't let me choose the map I have mapped. anyone else having this problem?

    How does Strava eat you battery? I find it uses very little battery on my phone even on a 4hr ride, maybe 30-40% maximum.

    I'd say there are very few using Map my ride as the vast majority seem to use Strava. Have you tried looking out and logging back in again?

    probably crap phone battery - need new phone too :(

    ya I tried logging in and out, and different pc/laptops too. maybe Santa will be nice to me - I put a Garmin on my wishlist on the other thread !

    If you've done the route before then you're best off copying it from a previous spin and editing the details to suit your most recent spin.

    I've used both Strava and Map My Ride on an iPhone (4,5 & 6) and Strava is a lot easier on the battery - by a long shot. I now use a Garmin Edge 200 which is a basic enough device and needs to be connected via USB to a PC/Mac after a spin to upload the data. I'd imagine you'd get a second hand one for very little if you look hard enough.

    Map my ride eats my iPhone 5's battery. I'm lucky to get three hours out of it before the battery is flat. On long spins, I end up,bringing a back up "juice" pack to recharge my phone.

    I use Map my Ride on a galaxy S5 and usually have music playing on it as well and would normally only use about 20-30% battery life on about a 2-3 hour spin. I only use the basic free service to record the spin.

    Is the app up to date? There was an update rolled out on the 16th If not update it, if so uninstall and reinstall, if still happening report it to map my ride. They are pretty active on twitter

    & there I was thinking I was the only one who doesn't use Strava! Setup an account once, logged in only a few times but just don't like it.
    Use mapmyride also but having no problems with it.
    Been awhile since I did use it;
    see above about an update but I never updated mine,
    Just logged in to check & I am able to create routes and log workouts though.

    Have you sent them a tweet. Maybe some accounts are affected for some reason,

    ok so I'm a real saddo - I always mapped my routes manually when I got home but today I put mapmyride on the phone as an app and it didn't eat half the battery that Strava did when I had that loaded so .... and it worked and I'm very impressed :)
