Insurance for engine replacement

    Hi there, the wifes car broke down and needs a new engine. Its going cost around 1500. Is there anything that can be claimed off insurance for this. She has fully comp.

    I dont think so.

    For it to be an insured event, a certain "event" would of had to cause the engine failure.

    if its just due to old age or wear and tear, not insurable,

    Ask your insurer, they will know best. We don't even know what cover you have.

    Mechanical breakdown or derangement is excluded on all motor insurance policies

    Unless it was due to fuel contamination they won't pay and even with that it can be long process.
