    Hey,
Could someone have a peek at my ad? It's for a Toyota Corolla 1.4 Petrol with a two year NCT; http://www.carzone.ie/used-cars/toyota/corolla/used-2006-toyota-corolla-1-4-terr-dublin-fpa-201538236834441

    New clutch fitted June '15
New front brake pads July '15
    NCT exp: 09/2017
    Tax exp: 24/04/2016

Putting it at €4999, but wondering would the price scare off people? Have had someone lowballing me at two and a half, but I'm not going to entertain them, as I feel that that's way too low.

Imo the car is presented well but you are starting out around €1k overpriced, you are defo scaring people away.

I'd put it up at €4750, see how it goes, drop to 4500 if I had to and take offers over 4250.

You've cleaned it up well but it is a basic spec model and it doesn't look like it's in the best of condition tbh. Just have a look at what else is in the €5500 price ballpark.

2 years newer, new model shape, looks like a Sol spec, lots of NCT and a more desirable engine http://cars.donedeal.ie/view/10551857

Good to see you've brought the price down a little since then :)

have you still got it advertised on Donedeal too?

asking is still too high i feel. that's still €5k, the "999" fools nobody. €4750, if no bites, drop to €4500, take serious offers over €4250.

there are some things you could do to better present the car like get 4 matching hub caps, repair or replace the film peeling off of the instrument cluster. tuck in the pulled/ ripped carpet in the passenger foot well, get a replacement glove box door to fix the hole in the dash and maybe a nice set of mats to spruce up the interior.

in the €5000 ballpark, you are competing with the likes of these:
    http://cars.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/07-toyota-corolla-1-4-d4d/10688088
    http://cars.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/toyota-corolla-luna/10736384

there are lots of higher spec 06 models in better looking condition for hundreds less than your asking:
    http://cars.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/2006-toyota-corolla-1-4-luna-nct-07-16/10568560
    http://cars.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/06-diseel-corolla/10372817

ultimately it boils down to price. if your price is right, it'l shift.

Close all doors when taking photos, otherwise gives the impression that the entire side of the car is ripped out of it with dings.

Had. It just disappeared. No email notification, or anything. Shall be reupping it shortly.
asking is still too high i feel. that's still €5k, the "999" fools nobody. €4750, if no bites, drop to €4500, take serious offers over €4250.
The "999" was to get it into carzones "cars less than €5000" dropdown search.
there are some things you could do to better present the car like get 4 matching hub caps
Aye; shall get a matching set from Halfords when I get paid. November will be a pricey month, as I'll also be doing a service, and getting the back two tyres replaced (more for my own peace of mind, than for selling the car).
repair or replace the film peeling off of the instrument cluster.
It seems it's cracked. Shall look into replacing it; mate says I may get a replacement cheap enough.
tuck in the pulled/ ripped carpet in the passenger foot well
I actually only saw that now.
get a replacement glove box door to fix the hole in the dash
Aye. Found it to be handy for myself (for my phone), but yeah, shall get a replacement.
maybe a nice set of mats to spruce up the interior.
Shall check are Lidl or Aldi still doing the car mats.

I got a blue and grey car seat cover set from Lidl there a while back; should I put them on, or would they worry the customer that something is wrong with the seats?
Some nice ones there. I suppose next time when I go looking for a car, I'll be more picky on what I'm buying, to make it easier to sell. The above recently had it's timing belt changed, which is odd, as I assumed it'd be a chain like my own, or are diesels different?

I want to shift it, but don't want to get ripped off either.
Close all doors when taking photos, otherwise gives the impression that the entire side of the car is ripped out of it with dings.
    Odd. But shall do.

yeah, well look it's probably quite a good car in all honesty, just by 2006 Toyota were really looking to empty the extras bins in the warehouse and most 2005-06 e12's were very well kitted out, so a Terra is unusual at that late stage and unfortunately a bit less saleable because most are very well decked out alloys/ fogs/ body kit/ climate control, it's one of those car buying situations where people can afford to be fussy, so you have to undercut the high spec models.

as it stands though, €50 in a decent scrap yard, pick up the missing hub cap, glove box door and a glass cover for the speedo and it'l take years off the car, cheap set of mats and some new photos, drop another smidge off the asking price and you'l shift it. it has a reasonably low mileage and a fair bit of tax and test.

new photos would help generate fresh interest too. the ones you have now are decent, but with new photos you will get old prospective customers to view your ad again. when i was shopping for the celica, i would skim over the same ads with the same photos, wouldn't bother opening them no matter how much the owner wrote "L@@K price drop!!" on them because i recognised the car and i wasn't fussed. once or twice though i clicked what i thought was a new ad because the photos had changed only to discover it was the same car, so it kind of gets you a second chance to show off the car if you know what i mean.

Please, for the love of god, and for our sanity, don't put them rotten halfords hubcaps on your car, conplete and utter muck, make any car look dreadful. A car had to have the proper original hubcaps on it, or it's not complete imo. You could easily pick up one or two in a breakers to match the proper oem ones that are already on it.

I was in the market for an 06/07 corolla for my sister a few weeks ago, she wanted any colour so long as it was black. Unfortunately your car wouldn't even have been a 'possibly maybe' car. It's the lowest spec model with zero extras whereas 95% of 06 corollas currently on sale are Luna, Strata or Colour Collection/T3 uk spec cars.

Apart from the low spec, the car is over priced. You are competing against much higher spec cars and therefore you need to price your car accordingly. I would see your car as being closer to €4000 in value but even at that I wouldn't be tempted to buy it when there are much nicer versions available.

I ended up buying a really nice black 06 Colour Collection Corolla with 68k miles, full Toyota service record and 6 months tax, the car cost €4650 (initial asking price was €5100) I offered €4500 and was walking away when the seller said he wouldn't drop below €4800 but he said he'd split the difference when he knew I was leaving.

There are a lot of Corollas for sale currently which means people have a choice and can near enough pick the colour and spec they want. Price it right and it'll sell no problem.
