Dispute NCT fail

I recently failed my NCT due to worn ball joins in the rear suspension system and have to redo the side slip test.

However, on my NCT report the readings are within the allowed limits.

Can they really fail me in this case?

I presume there is a visual as well as results aspect to the test. While it was within tolerance for the actual test, it looks worn?

Possibly. Going to check with my mechanic later today.

Your ball joints must have play in them. This is irrelevant to the side slip test but when they're replaced it can give a different reading and may need re-aligned.

Hence why it needs to be repeated.
