Turbo trainer - Help

Hoping somebody can help me here.

I bought a Btwin 320 connect turbo trainer last week, really happy with the product apart from one issue. I have a garmin speed/cadence sensor fitted on my bike, the turbo trainer comes with a Btwin specific sensor however I'm looking to use the garmin sensor instead of fitting two/alternating. Does anyone have experience with Btwin/garmin compatibility?

Ive searched online and can find examples of people using Btwin sensors with their garm in but not vice versa.

The Garmin is Ant+ but the Btwin with that turbo is Bluetooth so they aren't compatible.

Thanks for the feedback- not what I wanted to hear though ðŸ˜႒!

Has anyone experience fitting two sensors? I plan on using the trainer throughout winter mon-fri but still get out in the fresh air sat/sun so want to avoid alternating.

What is it your trying to achieve?

Does the turbo have some sort of a display or virtual power meter?

Are you trying to use it with zwift/trainer road?

I think the newer Garmins have blue tooth compatibility that's probably why you're seeing B'twin - Garmin and not vice versa.

Are you not going to use the same bike on the turbo as on the weekends? If you are can you not just use the garmin speed/cadence all the time? Maybe I'm just reading your post all wrong.

Sorry should have explained that a bit better.

The trainer comes with subscription to the "Btwin training app" that contains virtual videos of certain routes and displays cadence speed etc. on screen. So essentially I can connect the sensors to my iPad via Bluetooth but was looking to connect the garmin sensors instead of installing two sets of sensors.

The trainer works without connecting obviously however I'd like to use the functionality as it seems s fun way to train indoors.

I am going to be using the bike in and outdoors, just prefer not to have two sets of sensors on the bike.

    Ah right I see.

Did you check to see if the B'twin site would work with Ant+ devices. You'd have to buy and ant+ usb but might be an option other than that I'm at a loss.

I guess another bike for the turbo might solve the issue also :)

I've only recently had to part with my second bike due to lack of space, would came in handy now!

After more research it seems that an ant+ Dongle is required fir an iPad to be compatible with Ant+ - however from what I can see there's nothing compatible with IOS8.

Long story short it looks as though I'll need to install two sensors which is annoying, especially as my garmin 810 has Bluetooth!

Last question on this - the manufacturer recommends a training tyre. In peoples experience does this makes a difference?

Training tyres are harder wearing. you can use a normal tyre but you will wear it out much faster.

so the difference is €€€ as it will cost more replacing normal tyres than if your using training ones.
