Children in pubs

So today my brother 16, and 3 friends were in the local pub. They had all bought mineral drinks. They were going to play a game of pool. The bar man served them the drinks took their money then said they had to leave as no parents with them. This was at about 3pm. This is a local pub in a respectable area. My brother and his friends have a good reputation and they would not be messing.
I am just wondering the laws around asking them to leave ?

Ps. My uncle owns the pub and once they asked my brother to leave he rang him and he then rang the pub and was aloud back in - hence why I want to know what's officially allowed. The bar man is also only there 2 weeks so may not have known he was related.

    This is in wrong area...
