just off the phone to setanta,

last years offer of €99 for 12 months is being replaced by a €129 offer. all those who are on the €99 offer will be informed.

i was on the €9.99 a month offer with final payment due this weekend and i was offered the 12 month new deal which equates to €10.75 a month. There is no automatic renewal on it so as a once of payment you just get cut off at the end of the 12 months or prior to switch off talk to them.

I'd definitely take this if it happens. I have been on the 99 for the year offer since Nov 27th last year, so even 129 would be good to have.

To be fair, €129 is pretty decent. I doubt I'll take it, as I just find I haven't had either the time or the inclination to watch much BT, but I would say a fair few will go for it.

I have the 125euros for 12months setanta deal

Clever Setanta hooking everyone with the €99 deal last year, even me, now there sucking you in for an extra €29, well done to there marketing team. Job done. I'll not be sucked in for extra €29, if it remains at €99 I'll renew no problem.

Why take €129 for a year if you can keep getting 2 month deals at €9.99 a month.

I'd go €100 again but would rather chance my arm for the cheaper deals.

Would seem a lot of bother to keep hoping for deals every month, just to save a tenner over a year.

Just got the text for 129 renewal and i ain't going to go for it, 99 euro is the most i will pay.

I got the same and I'll be signing on. More than worth it to not have to hunt for poxy unreliable streams regularly.

I just got the text and email with the offer.

I think €129 for me anyway that offer is worth it.

No pay by month option with the €129 deal?

    no
    up front payment

€129 for the month is a great deal. Tons of live footie, plenty of PL/CL matches and great European matches every weekend. Bargain.

    No harm ringing and asking

Will definitely go for this. Well worth it for the baseball and college football.

They emailed me and offered 2 months for €12.99, I replied asking for the €129 for 12 months deal. They're happy to offer it.

Happy as a pig in sh*t! Thanks OP

If this is an offer for all not just current subs I'll bite their hands off, worth it for me for the NRL next season.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 132 ✭✭Richie71

Just called them there and signed up. I was a former monthly customer that cancelled last June. They asked if i received an e-mail coz the offer was for existing annual subs. They agreed to the deal if I switched pay method to visa. Automatically cancels after 1 year. Thanks OP, that's a great deal.

The multi room is €25 extra for the year

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 191 ✭✭Racket

Asked on an email when I was already looking for an extension of my current two month offer, was told "that this offer is available to our existing customers." so went for it. Saves emailing every two months for a new offer anyhow.

I just don't seem to watch it much so will give it a miss - I need it for a match on 21 November, but reckon I should still have it at that point.

Good value though, and saves this nonsense of ringing evey couple of months.

I'm currently paying the E21/month on UPC for this after taking up the E2/month for the first 2 months. Would I be able to sign up for this and does anyone know what would happen if I cancelled UPC before the 12 months are up and then moved to Sky? Does the subscription transfer from one to the other?

I did, was told current subscribers only, actually only got offered the normal deals that are listed on their website. Might try again and maybe someone else might be more accommodating, though I doubt it.

Was told the same thing but the fella didn't even try & sell me the current deal. Will hold off for a better deal to become available. Current prices do not represent value for money in my opinion.

They are strange. I emailed over the weekend asking about any offers, and got a reply just with the list price if 21.99
Replied that I thought they had a 129 offer, they replied asking if I wanted the 129 offer, and when I said yes they emailed me on the 129 offer.
Strange way of doing business tbh

Fair play for having more luck, I agree though, is a strange, random way of doing business!

i got my dad signed up this morning he was never a customer and got the €129 offer.

I rang up initially on saturday to see if i could sign him up and explained that i got the €129 offer last week. They told me to ring back with my dad present. Did that today put him on the phone to talk to setanta. also no connection fee.

so my advice get an existing subscriber to ring and be present.

Signed up to this today and was told it automatically renews. Advised me to call back before end of October next year.

I questioned the fact I had been told last year it would disconnect after 12 months to be told if I hadn't called it would have renewed at €225!

Still trying to get my head around it!

This is from the Ts&Cs I got when i signed up for the 99 for one year deal

Service billed at €99 for 1 year. This is a one off payment, the service will not renew after this period. Offer available on satellite only. Offer is not available to current customers. Offer ends 9am Sunday 29th November. Fixtures subject to change.

Former customer, cancelled in May. Got it for the winter period over the last few years. Will probably sign for the year, little over a tenner PM isn't too bad and no bother having to ring and call to threaten cancelling/renew.

Got the email a few days ago and a call last night from Setanta. I told the sales guy i didn't wanted some time to consider the offer and he told me that the offer would only be good up to last night and that Setanta can withdraw an offer at any time. Told him i didn't appreciate that tactic and wouldn't sign up with him. I suspect he was pushing hard for his commission.

Anyhow, if i were to sign up does anyone know what would happen if i were to move to UPC during the 12 months? Does the package move across also? Far from certain at the moment that i will be with Sky once my current offer period ends.

Well my current year long deal doesn't run out till Christmas Eve so I'll wait till closer to then and see if it's still on offer then.

Got it today after emailing first and referencing the offer email (I never got).
Rang up then and all was good. Only ever had the 1 euro deal before in December 2013.

Your Setanta package would continue on satellite. An active Sky subscription is not necessary for a Setanta subscription.

I don't think they can do an automatic renewal if you pay with a credit card.

Tried to set up yesterday and had a strange experience. Could view the setanta channels but not the BT ones. Customer service blaming the box which is possible I guess but I've had no bother with it on other stations. Just wondered if anyone else had experienced simular with these or other channels.
A point of note on calling setanta BTW, cost me about 20 euro for the call (of about 25 minutes or do). Pretty pissed off after all that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,077 ✭✭✭✭vienne86

Well I got the phone call last night, following on from the email and the text. I said I needed more time to think and would make up my mind. He said he would phone me back next week but I told him I would be away until 22nd and to phone and email then. I am paid up until 25th, and to be fair to the guy, he didn't put a gun to my head.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,129 ✭✭✭Jofspring

I was initially paying €21.99 a month but just noticed my bill went up to €25 without any notification from Setanta. Have e-mailed looking for an offer and if they don't have one i'll just cancel. Mainly getting it for the odd game of football, UFC and rugby but I can always go to the pub or stream them if I'm stuck.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,129 ✭✭✭Jofspring

Cancelled setanta. They offered me €12.99 for two months. Said I'd leave it. He said I could ring back in two months and see what offers they have then but I couldn't be bothered ringing every two months for a discount. If I want to watch it bad enough I'll find a way.

Will keep an eye out for offers popping up. Like the €129 for the year.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,914 ✭✭✭kooga

the two months at €12.99 per month offer is up on their website as the only subscription offer at the moment.

Next job is get sky down. Can't get rid of it as there would be war in the house but it's costing a fortune.

Just got the letter from Sky about the 2.50 rise from Dec 1st.
One heading on the letter states "BRINGING YOU MORE OF THE SPORTS THAT MATTER"
    Yippee! Can't wait!
