I am interested in a 04 Legacy 3.0R Auto Saloon

They usually average 23 mpg but this one is on LPG.

What kind of mpg would this be returning considering LPG id not as efficient in regards to matching petrol mpg rates?

Also is there any issues with this car on LPG?

With LPG you need to make sure the valves are set at their optimum and check it every 30-50k kilometers. The regulation of those is a nightmare in the H6 engine and costs a fortune to do.

I am not sure when the LPG was done but I presume this will be on the LPG cert?

I've a LS430 on LPG, and it returns about 10-15% less on LPG, but considering it's 75c per litre it's an absolutely massive saving on fuel.

I think I know the of car in question actually, and if it's the same one, the LPG install was done by LpGain - same people who did my own car - in which case I would be fully confident the install is a top job, as their work is absolutely top notch.

I've had a very happy 3 1/2 years running on half price fuel, it certainly takes the sting out of the tax.

There is 17% less Energy in a litre of LPG than petrol, so if you are using 17% more, the mixture is perfect.

LPG is a very dry fuel (as its a gas) and on some engines it may cause some valve seat recession due to non-lubrication (valve seal wears faster than on petrol as petrol is a natural lubricant). One easy way to prevent this is to use something like "FlashLube" which lubricates the valve seals.

Other than that, its a great fuel alternative

I do like the sound of that. Would love a Lexus V8, but I'd spend all my time wiping gawk off the windscreen everytime I saw the tax disc!

I have a Porsche Boxster at present 2.7 Tax €1,345

I have just started flying lessons and the plan is to sell the Porsche and buy something more cost effective as I do 400+ miles a week and flying lessons are not cheap (€200 Per HR @ min 45hrs) hence the saving needed in fuel and I would like something with a bit of pole hence the Legacy

    I currently get 30mpg from the Porsche so €128.9 @ 400 miles = €80 approx per week.

    Legacy with 25 mpg (LPG) 80c @ 400 miles = €60 approx

If I'm right €20 a week saving is not worth it to go from a Porsche to a Legacy all be it a nice car! I'll park the Porsche and buy a cheap diesel until my flight training is complete.

I've a 2.0 Volvo converted by LPGain. I agree with all of the above.

I don't see the sense in moving from a 2.7l to a 3.0 to save money. For me 2 litre was the sweet spot for tax - above that and the tax eats up the savings (unless you are doing serious miles). I'd sooner have a 2.0 LPG than a 2.0 diesel and running consts would be similar.
