    Hi,

I'm trying to arrange a Christmas event for our society on Nov 28 and would like advice re courses, cost & chances of being playable as last year the course that we booked was closed due to frost on the day. We ended up playing Portmarnock Links for €45 but the fee has risen to €70 this year which is outside our budget.

Players will contribute €20 on the day and I have €500 in the kitty.

We typically get 16-20 players per event.

So golf and food afterwards for between €820 and €900.

    Any/all help appreciated

I would say try Castleknock but think they are pretty much booked out by now unless you are flexible on dates/times. They are pretty good for year round golf. Otherwise keep it close to the sea as courses along the cost don't suffer from frost as much

Roganstown is always playable unless there is frost. Full greens and tees thru the winter.

What time of the day are you planning on playing at? Most golf courses would be cleared off frost by 10 am and open. I think we only closed 1 day last year due to frost and had a late start a few other mornings. If your trying to get out really early, that might be a problem, but if flexible with your tee-times you will get out somewhere.

If your stuck let me know and I might be able to help easily within that budget range, but I know we have events planned that day already have a society book in that day. We have a coffee dock area that we could use and it would be nice and private for your society with full bar and catering available. We also have 27 holes, so we will get you out somewhere.

Tee between 10 - 11 would be ideal.

What course are you involved in?

    Corrstown

If still interest let me know and I'll check with the office in the morning and see what would be possible.

Give Dermot in Slade Valley , Saggart , co Dublin a ring 014582183.
He will be able to get the 20 of you out for €25 pp, dinner should work out at less than €15 as the franchisee always has good specials on at weekends , enjoy the golf & the views of Dublin

If you want to minimise the risk of frost, then a links is your safest bet. St Annes or Sutton (9 hole) on the northside or Arklow or Wicklow a bit further away.
