ESP issues

Delphi outputs the above codes. ESP light is permanently on. The acceleration sensor is stuck at -3.89m/s so the car thinks it's always decelerating.

Symptoms include randomly cutting off throttle and odd gear changes by the auto transmission.

Is there anything I should try before throwing parts at it?

On my ML, I had similar issues with the EPS/BAS light constantly on. Turned out to be a faulty Brake Pressure Sensor.
Not sure if it has any bearing on the VAG engine though.

I had a problem with my brake light switch that caused my car to randomly brake, disengage cruise, throw some traction/ESP lights and confuse my gearbox to the point it went into Failsafe Mode. Once I replaced this it has been perfect ever since, you might look into the same thing on yours!

    Thanks for the suggestions.

Don't know if it has to do with the brakes. The switch operates normally. The codes suggest a broken sensor and control unit.

Surprising for a car from 2010 with 134k km.

Looks like the usual G419 multi axis acceleration sensor failure. It's a common issue on the Touareg. It's not a cheap part to buy either. Approx €550 ex VAT IIRC.

Thanks George. That's what I was afraid of. Any particular reason as to why the units fail?

They are a sealed unit and aren't serviceable. I don't know exactly what goes wrong with them. All I know is when you have those fault codes you take the old one out, throw it in the bin and fit a new one!

Thanks for all the help. Can you point me towards sourcing a new one? I can't really find one online. Just a sea of used units.

Will I just go to VW and ask for part no: 7H0907652A?

Go to VW and give them reg or VIN and ask them for G419 sensor.

Are you going to fit it yourself? There is a bit of coding and setup involved just FYI.

That's the plan. Am I correct in assuming that a basic vagcom setup is enough?

Yes VCDS can do it via Basic Settings.

Looks like I'm off to VW then. Thanks for all the help :).
