Collins Avenue to Ballymun, Finglas and then the back road in to Blanch from there.

Ok cheers I know at far as Ballymun/StMargarets just need to do bit of driving research on Finglas I checked on Google maps do you know what back roads I can take I just see the M50 going round in a loop before I would hit Blanch thanks

Go through Finglas village and keep going straight until you get to cardiffbridge church and take a right. Go to the end and take a right past cappagh hospital and over the m50. Take a left at the roundabout and then just follow the signs.

    In short, what Kaiser said.

Your accompanying driver will probably know the route, seeing as they have to have their full licence for 2 years before they can accompany you.

I've my full licence 8 years and I wouldn't have a clue how to get there.

Between the 2 of them I'm sure they will make it.

Sat Nav or a map would help, if you are incapable of using either maybe you should not be behind the wheel.

I usually just take out my map & spread it out on the dash & glance at it as I'm going along. Satnavs are too dear.

I have seen that as well, some makeup artists and some shavers.

That's a good idea. That's an extra 15 mins in bed each morning straight away. And I could even plug the razor in too. I don't wear makeup.

I don't believe that the knowledge on "how to avoid the m50 to blanch" is automatically acquired after 2 years of having a full licence so not sure how your post is helpful?

Take Collins Ave as far as the Ballymun Junction and just continue straight, keep going straight past Finglas Village, past the swimming pool, straight through the roundabout after the swimming pool, the road curves left and then take a right at those traffic lights, right at next lights, follow road over bridge and left at roundabout. Continue on straight until you hit first roundabout, if you're heading the shopping centre, go left at this roundabout and continue until you reach a bridge and either go straight on or right to hit the centre.

    Cheers for the directions

    Go onto google maps.
Input the start and end points.
    In "options" click "avoid highways".

This gives you all routes that don't go onto the M50.

It depends on where your start point is, if you go through Finglas on Santry.

I know you want to avoid the M50 but going through Finglas village is probably a hell of a lot scarier. I've never been there but I have heard it is an awful place. Every time I read a newspaper there seems to be someone up in court from the area. Just a word of warning...
    So why comment?
Using your logic the op should certainly not even attempt to get out of the car in Blanchardstown. Sure someone was murdered there this year.

Going the Finglas route is fine.

Don't think you need to go to that level but just be careful driving through..

Would you ever get a grip. Finglas village is absolutely fine and safe. So are most parts of finglas and there have certainly never been unprovoked attacks on randomers driving through the place.

    Cop on.

Why don't you want to use the m50?

OP: Allow about an hour for the trip I'd say

January I know me was in jest I have friends from there and went though it with a friend once was fine. I just dont know the area thats why I want to know where I'm going hate it when I get lost

Its not an easy drive if you are nervous driver. If you are in the Raheny area, head to killester and take a right at the shops and keep going straight all the way to finglas. Like whats been already said, your accompanying driver should be able to advise you. Keep off the road if you were thinking of doing it alone.

the accompanying driver could assist with directions and map reading surely...unless of course there isn't one, but ...well surely not!

That's not what pablo128 posted(I was referring to the poor choice of wording of this poster), whose post was merely a cheap shot to try derail the thread into a discussion about having a licensed passenger while adding nothing to the OPs request

And how is your post helpful? The op could ask someone who qualifies to accompany them if they know where Blanch is, and would they mind coming with them to show them the way. Easy peasy.

Could you take every other clown that currently uses the M50 and hasn't a clue what they're doing on it with you?

Has the OP responded to his point though? Is she driving unaccompanied?

OP doesn't have to respond to all points here. He/She asked for some directions. That's all

If you want to stick to main roads (and are ok driving around the city) you can:
    - Drive into town through Fairview, pass Connolly Station
    - Turn right and go up along the Quays to Heuston Station (past the Guinness Factory on your left).
    - Go through the Phoenix Park, then through Castleknock and Blanchardstown village
    - Arrive at the Centre.

About 30 mins in average traffic and less chance of getting lost on backroads (unless you use a GPS of course)

    I'm going to guess:
    1) Learner driver
    and
2)Cause the traffic is a bloody nightmare on it i'd imagine!

Thats your own issue. She wasn't asked a question, so why would she reply? Let it go

And why is it your issue? Since you seem so concerned, perhaps you could offer to accompany her, that way the rest of us don't need to worry about self proclaimed nervous drivers driving unaccompanied on our roads.

Absolutely spot on. Apart from not being allowed on it, she has admitted she is a nervous driver. The M50 can be hairy at times even for experienced drivers. My missus had passed her test a year before she got the courage to drive on it.

Thank you for your helpful post. I was agreeing with the op by the way. Do you recommend she drives on the M50?
