Just a few questions that someone might be able to answer,,

If like the above car the timing chain needed to be changed would there be any long term damage done or once the new chain etc is fitted would the car be good as new?

Does the sve model with keyless entry give any problems?

    Thanks Roy

My Micra (aka the money pit) is currently on its third timing chain - and they are damned expensive to get fitted. Takes about 1-2 days in the garage depending on the availability of the part. The fitting process should not cause any long term damage to the car - assuming you get a nissan dealership to do the job. Not fitting a timing chain when you know it is stretched and the engine management light is blinking could cause serious damage to the engine if it does go snap. Better to bite the bullet now and fork out anywhere from 750 euros and up or spend a lot more on repairs if the timing chain goes.

I'd imagine the process for timing chains for a Note would be similar to a Micra.

The main difference I noticed after the new chain is fitted - the car no longer stalls or cuts out and I did notice a very slight improvement in mpg.
