As the nct is encouraging people get their test done before the year end, my car will be 10 years old in 2016. My test is due in Feb 2016. If I get it done Nov/ Dec this year when will the next test be due?

If you do it before the date of reg you will get 2 years as it's still 9 years old.

    That's not true.
If you test your car before it's 9 years and 9 months old (f.e in October 2015), your test will be valid for 2 years from test date so till October 2017.
But if you test it after car is more than 9 years and 9 months old (f.e. December 2015 or March 2016) your test will be valid for one year from due date which will be February 2017

The booking date you have selected falls under voluntary testing rules as it is earlier than 90 days before your NCT due date. If tested and passed on this date, the next test by date will change to the 03 November 2017. Please select another date if do not wish to complete a voluntary test.

This is what comes up when l put in a date in November

This is what comes up when I looked for a date in November 2015, I think it's pretty clear

I am getting my 06 Passat NCT'd on Tuesday. I'm getting it done so early so I get a two year cert. Word on the street has it that they are trying to free up the NCT Centres as they can't keep up with demand. They handed out a rake of free NCT's earlier this year because of delay's with booking tests.

Say a prayer mine passes on Tuesday and I'll let you know what's on the CERT if it passes.
