Getting a bit bored of my GS and fancy a change.......the GTR 1400s have always caught my eye. Any whacker jockeys here and feedback really appreciated. Do a mix of town riding and long journeys. I know they are a heavy bike but the GS is no wilting violet in the weight dept either so I'm all ears.

    Thanks

I know 3 people who have/ have had them.

1 is used a lot for Marshaling sports events etc and he loves it.
1 is a recreational bike and again, he loves it.
1 is a speed freak and he just changed to a Triumph Explorer 1200. ....He loved it, but said it was OTT for the road and has found the Triumph a more useful tool.

I was close to getting one after a GS. How long have you had the GS? I had a couple over about 10 years, very useful bike, but after a certain lenght of time with a big dual sport they can get boring. Only similar thing that I would have went for was a new multistrada.

Have the GS 3 years.....it's a 07 minus all the electronic gimmickry .....low km and it's been a reliable bus especially in traffic. The GTR is an itch I want to scratch and I'm grateful for tt's note. My biker pals and I'm 50 all tell me to upgrade to a newer GS as the GTR will kill me but I've ridden fast bikes years ago and it's not as if I'm going to lock and load with it as a senior citizen who values life. My thought is now I keep the GS and buy and older GTR or an FJR, just for a bit of choice......insurance company tell me it'll be a very small premium for a second bike as long as both bikes are locked in a garage.

They'd probably kill me for saying so, but the two current riders above are of that vintage.........and no holding them back !
