The last few MOTs have the mileages. Unfortunately it doesn't go all the way back

Hardly likely I would think.
They aren't the most efficient of companies at the best of time.
Political will could make this happen but there would be the usual problems with Data Protection etc.
It would help to reduce clocking though as there must be NCT history for a long enough time now.

Think they're on a slightly different system with MOTs, the general vehicle check works with northern cars and I think it shows status if it has a current one or not, but not the history.

Although on the cars I've checked, the odd one prior to August 2011 may appear with a mileage.

The MOT system was computerised around 2005, so it'll only go back as far as the first test done after computerisation.

Overall a welcome change for consumers being able to easily access the infomation that'll help.
