    Yeah just read about that.

Apparently the players are taking responsibility for different parts of the training this week and leading workouts where they naturally have a lot of expertise and passing those skills along to the rest of the squad.

One French newspaper managed to get a picture of Pape's training workshop earlier:

Was hoping for this. Going to both cardiff games myself. I'll be happy to roar on our euro neighbours....do I have a blue shirt though?

Didn't this also happen in 2011 with Livrement?

More or less, yes. But with him wasn't there a history of ill feeling leading to that point?

Is it going to change much this late anyway? PSA still picks the team and makes the substitutions.

As much as I think Noves is a vastly superior coach I wonder will we be sitting here in 4 years posting the same thing after the pool stages!

Sacked by the players. That means he continues to act as coach, but it's just acting.

Where does it say he's been sacked? Players rebelling doesn't mean he's sacked.

    Plus a change...

So if the players are just rebelling then what happens with regard to subs? If the guy on the field doesn't want to come does he just ignore the call?

You would have to come off if there's a substitution being made, the ref wouldn't continue until you go off.

No I think he meant to say"Plus a change of head coach after the world cup" but his computer crashed.

    ;)

No really what happens with the subs? It isn't like any of the players will be able to signal back what should happen easily. They can make the plan before hand and tell him who to pick but can't see how the subs aren't still aren't called by him.

This is becoming a world cup tradition for them. I am just happy it happened after our match as they have some serious talent and could potentially be a very deadly team if they start playing with a plan.

The subs question is fairly legit. Who decides who comes off and when? Who decides the starting XV?

New World Cup, same story from France. Don't honestly care as they won't get to World Cup final so we don't have to worry about meeting them there

If they do meet Ireland again, I would not like to be Pape.....

None of the mainstream media outlets in France seem to be running this explosive story. It may not actually be true.

There's a headline in L'Equipe "Revolution de Salon" that seems to suggest the same story, but it's behind a paywall.

That's about a new barbers in Paris. I've heard good things.

Well Lievermont got the same treatment in the last World Cup, and France reached the final, and should have won it IMO.

I watched that final in France and the French were describing Lievremont at 'one croissant short of a full breakfast'.

I can't see that happening to Guy Noves. Ever.

Back in 2011 it was Tonga who beat them. Getting beaten by Ireland hardly deserves the same reaction. There must have been a lot of unease already.

I heard a french journalist say that this defeat has been taken alot harder than the tonga one purely for the fact that they have had their eye on the ireland game for 3 years and still didnt turn up on the day

Maybe not for training but he'll still have the final say when it comes to squad selection.

Thierry Dusautoir has come out and rubbished this story.
"On a préparé ce match en équipe, avec les coaches. On a commencé cette Coupe du monde en équipe, avec le manager. Et on continue en équipe. Le reste ne m'intéresse pas.

The selection point is interesting. Which poor soul is the guy who has to tell Basteraued that the players don't think he should play.

PSA would still be in charge in the eyes of the Officials, he'd have the final say.

I'm not sure what to make of this. The original story seems to have come from the Nouvel Obs (which I didn't even know had a sports section, generally sports journalism is left to the specialist press in France) and picked up by the foreign press.

Neither l'Équipe or Midol (the rugby paper) say anything about it. Midol do talk about Dusautoir and PSA having a discussion on the helicopter ride to London but it seems more like the team is trying to build a them against us mentality rather than 'sacking' the coach. They make it sound like Parra talked his way into the team.

I really hope so, think if you have a chance of beating NZ, Para has to be on the pitch.

Don't wet yourself guys :p. There is no revolution. Neither there was in 2011.

All these lazy sensationalistic talks are coming from our catastrophic 2010 football World Cup in South Africa where our players refused to train because of the Anelka's situation. L'Equipe, the monopolistic sports journal in France, went on a vendetta against Domenech, our coach. They made him pay several years of disregard for the press (his infamous "vous n'êtes que des relais" hard to translate, he meant they just relay the information people are OK to give them, they know nothing, they are basically useless). And made this headline from a restroom leak (basically Anelka talking to Domenech) "va te faire enculer sale fils de pute" fully written. "Go fùck yourself dirty son of a bitch". Can you imagine this headline on the Irish Times after an Ireland defeat from Sexton to Schmidt for example? The country would be put to fire and the sword. That's what happened in France.
In the end, contrary to what everyone not in the know think, the least to blame were actually the players. Our federation, our politicians, all the people who let the crazy situation regarding our coach develop (he was in an open war with the media, that should have never happened in the first place) were the real guilty ones. All the people (e.g. Platini, Houiller) who confirmed Domenech at the head of Les Bleus in 2008 after a catastrophic Euro and his infamous marriage proposal after our knocking out of the competition, were more guilty too. And in the end this L'Equipe-Domenech vendetta was ridiculous: serving your own interest rather than the country's one .

Anyway, since this "infamous" WC, every time one of our national squad is struggling (even momentarily) and there's some reactions from the players, people quickly wave the big "revolution" word. That's ridiculous. These people must have never played any kind of sports even at a very low level not to know what can go on in the restrooms. It even happened to our handball team for one of the rare competition they didn't win over the last 10 years (twice Olympic champion, thrice World champion, thrice European champion)...

So. Coming back to this RWC. Some players are not happy with our results, with the way we played? Woaw ?! But that is craaaaaaaaaaaazy ?! We're not happy that we lost 24-6 to Ireland? Really? I naively thought they would have celebrated this defeat in night clubs for at least 3 days  ?!

Midi Olympique showed a picture of Maestri "shouldering" PSA titling it "Coup d'épaule". By the way, I'm not sure but I'd not be surprised if there was a deliberate link with the famous J.J. Annaud movie "Coup de tête". You'd need a bit of French culture though to fully understand that. Nothing near any hint of a revolution or a mutiny.

Anyway, heard yesterday in Super Moscato Show on RMC (you can search for the podcast online, the 5 to 6 pm part), Jacques Verdier (head of Midi Olympique), Bernard Laporte and Thomas Lombard talking about everything related to our team in this WC. No talk of revolution. Nothing dramatic. Papé was invited and notably gave his take on the SOB incident. Very far from the "internet wetting midinettes' fantasies" (:p). Very sane and anti-dramatic talks. Now of course he said the players are fired up for the Quarters and have a huge desire to regroup and show they can do much better than what they've shown so far. Of course there were talks between players, with the staff. He also mentioned that for him, Michalak, Mas and a couple more it's their last WC so they don't want to end their career en bleu in such a bad way.
