Personal motivation

Just looking to hear people's experiences of motivation. My motivation to keep on track is seriously like a roller coaster, one day I'm really good, but the next day I lose it, just tell myself ah one chocolate bar won't hurt.. When it obviously does..

I've lost 19 lbs altogether since Feb. That's huge for me as all my previous diets ever failed within two weeks. I am exercising a few times weekly but it is not enough. I have a young child so exercise a lot at home and go to a class maybe once a month. I walk a lot too. But that's only helping me maintain my weight loss as my diet has become bad again. My sweet tooth is what is the problem. I try to go without and end up per indulging the next day. Even my teeth are suffering.

It just helps writing it out because I know tomorrow is another day but I'm bloated and tired and stressed with work. The chocolate or fizzy drinks are just so inviting when I'm feeling like this but I know it doesn't help.

What does everyone else do when they're feeling sluggish and worn out? How do you get your motivation back?

Are you using MyFitnessPAl and tracking your calorie intake? If you're not then download it because it's excellent for keeping you on track.

If you are, then just try to stick with logging in exactly what it is you're consuming everyday. Put it this way, if your calorie intake is 1,600 for example, you're going to be much less inclined to eat a chocolate bar if you have to log it. You also have to accept you will have bad days/weeks. I had a terrible one with alcohol and food last weekend but since Monday, my diet has been excellent. It's about getting back up on the horse as soon as possible when you fall down.

To avoid eating bars and drinking coke, eat a good dinner in the evening and keep drinking plenty of water. I find tea and coffee are good for keeping the energy levels up.

Also, well done on the exercise but exercise isn't really that vital in losing weight. Put it this way, what's easier: Not eating a chocolate bar that contains 250 calories or jogging for an hour? By all means though, keep going to the gym and working out! It's great to be fit and it will help tone you up but maybe keep it separate to your weight loss plan.
