Will I need a modified bracket to fit the standard 60cm dish to the pole the aerials are on? I think the pole will be wider than the pole that came with the dish 25mm as against 38mm! Any suggestions?

You don't give much detail there, but I would never put a satellite dish on a pole unless its mounted on a T & K bracket in between the 2 brackets and not above the mountings.

It's a neighbour who asked me to do this. She doesn't want the chimney drilled . There is plenty of room on the pole and its only a bungalow. This isn't the actual house but it's similar. I just want to know will i need a modified bracket as the u bolts will probably be too small?

yes you'll need different brackets. The u bolts wont fit around the pole.

I would never recommend putting a dish on a pole just held with a chimney strap.

Ok mate. I'll try to convince her to bolt it to the chimney.

Does the dish have to be on the chimney? A satellite dish does not need to be high up as long as it has a clear view of the part of the sky where the satellite is. Use this site to determine if another location might suit. Simply enter the address and select 28.2 Astra2 as the satellite. The obstacle checker will help if other buildings or trees are an issue.

Thanks for that. Yes the chimney was the only option in this case. I ended up putting it low down on the aerial pole. Had to get some 6 mm threaded bar and made up a couple of u brackets to suit. I think it will be ok as it's quite well sheltered. I explained it was against the advice of the experts on here.;)
