Income Tax use of bands

    If I earn €65k in the year and my spouse earns nothing can I avail of her band and have all of my income chargeable at 20% or is the portion of my income over €41,800 still taxable at the higher rate of 40%?

    You can only use 9000 euro of your spouses rate band. Thats what gets you to 41800. Anything above that is at the higher rate.
