Owe tax in Ireland but live abroad

    Hi there,

I posted this in legal but there might be someone here with a view on it.

I emigrated three years ago and was a sole trader for a few years before I left. The revenue have tapped me on the shoulder about a few quid that they spotted I never declared (it was my final invoice before leaving) so they're after the tax and the VAT - it comes to a couple of grand or so.

I'm bang to rights; I tried to pull a fast one and would have gotten away with it but for those pesky kids. I have no receipts from this month to claim back any VAT as I was winding up my business and moving.

So here's my question. As I live outside the country and will almost certainly never live in Ireland again, what would realistically happen if I chose to ignore it?
