    Hi All,

I was just wondering if I could get some advice. I have a holiday home down the country, I'm not there very often. My neighbour has about fifteen wild cats which she has fed for the last few years. However recently she has sold her home. She has decided that she is not bringing the cats with her and has stopped feeding them in the hope that they leave. I just discovered this two days ago. The cats looked really emaciated. I fed them and left enough food for a couple of days. However I'm away most of the year so it's really not an option for me to do this long term. Is there any charity that could help the cats? Their unable to be handled.

There's a facebook page, I think it's called 'feral cats Ireland'. I would post there and see is there someone on that page in the locality that could help. Where are these cats OP?

They won't move on, that's a myth. They'll stay and fade away to nothing. :(

Which county, OP? Maybe we can suggest a local TNR (trap-neuter-return) group.

I think he/she is Dublin, as the profile says.

Could try <snip>, afaik they can come out and trap, neuter and try to re-home them.

You need to find good animal people in the vicinity of the area, maybe put up a facebook post on the nearby village or towns Facebook page. Re-homing that number of feral cats would be hard going.
If you could get a couple of people on board to share feeding them every few days even once a week this would be the saving of them. Setting up a sheltered feeding station and pouring a 2 euros 80 cents bag of lidl or aldi dry cat food depending on the number of cats, all it takes is 5 mins of work. You just need to work out the number of cats and how much they will need per day. Its better than starvation. I dont think theres any worse death than some poor animal dying of starvation. Get your local welfare charity on board to get them all neutered so they wont be multiplying and the feeding of them would go on indefinitely. There is a wealth of information on how to set up a feeding station for feral cats online.

I've been down this road twice, the first time was a farm and all 8 of the ferals were put to sleep because the farm they were on was so isolated that know one would take on the responsibility and the new owner wanted them gone or he'd "get the gun himself". Ill never forget that day in my whole life.
The 2nd was more successful and still is where a couple of good people feed 12 cats every few days and we check up on them every few weeks. Nearly all have been TNRed and the numbers were originally in the 20's and now are currently at 12. Feral cats have low life expectancies.
If you need help op give us a post or a pm. Dont sweep this under the carpet and hope they will be grand, your intentions were good so why not keep it going.

I have no idea but would any farm owners in the Agri forums take on a few?
