Wishbone bushings defective

hi, a couple of weeks ago I was told I needed a set of wishbone bushings.. but I couldn't get the ball and socket joint separately, I had to order the entire wishbone arm.

Long story short, I was driving along the road the following day when I felt the steering wasn't right so I decided to bring the car into a garage and get the wheels aligned.

When they put it up on the lift they saw that the ball and socket joint had snapped and the bushing was almost completely out of the joint. I was told I was lucky I didn't end up in the hedge.

Anyway, the motor factors refunded me the money, but the garage owner who had put them on for me, told me that I should follow the supplier (not the auto factors) for the cost of installation of the wishbone bushes/bushings.

It was €50 to have them put on by the first garage, and €30 to have them removed and the old ones replaced by the 2nd garage.

Would I have any come-back here?

    thanks.

That's shocking. Any idea what manufacturer they were from?
    What car was it for?
From what you say, you must have purchased the parts yourself. This is a major downside of sourcing your own parts. If garage had applied parts and fitted, they would have had to refit new ones free for you.
I don't think it is worth chasing in this case given the small amount of money involved.

It was for a Volvo V40, I did source the parts myself but I bought them from a reputable local auto factors. I have no idea who the manufacturer is.. the two wishbones came wrapped in transparent plastic with a sticker on each and some serial numbers printed on them, no manufacturers name that I could see. I can find out.

It was the first time the mechanic had ever seen anything like that happen. He told me I should chase it up but Im in the fame of mind that it is hardly worth it.

The motor/auto factors, not their supplier, sold you the part so you're entitled to claim the cost of repair against them as it's a direct consequence to the faulty part.
If they want to chase their supplier for their losses then that's their business.
