I applied for BTEA a week and a half before my course was due to start on 21st September and I was told at the office I'd hear from them in a week. After that, I started receiving letters in the post telling me to go to welfare meetings that would help me to look for work even though I'm in full time 3rd level education, so I went down to them to clarify the situation and I was told it was a mistake and that I'd be hearing from them 'shortly'.

That was nearly two weeks and I've still heard nothing, running out of money to live on while I wait for this to come through. Is this happening to anyone else? Also, will the money be backdated?
