    Hello,
    Recently I moved home. Paid outstanding balance on the account for Irish Water at An Post. I need confirmation that the outstanding balance for this account is paid at the address. Otherwise landlord is withholding deposit because of lack of confirmation.
    Please help me to get the confirmation that the account is cleared.
    Thanks,
    Daniel

    Hi DanielS35,

    You can use your final bill and proof of payment of the bill as proof of closure of an account.

    Alternatively, if you contact us here with your account details, a member of the team may be able to send you proof of account closure.

    However, due to a high volume of queries, we are currently experiencing delays in response to queries sent by email. We endeavour to respond to all queries as soon as possible.

    Kind regards,
    Mairead

    Hello Mairead,

    thank You for reply.
    I sent email already last week but no reply.
    Haven't received final bill yet to the new address.
    Paid for the latest bill at An Post but it's not enough it seems as landlord is not sure if there isn't anything outstanding.

    Currently cannot get my deposit back from the landlord although I paid outstanding balance on my Irish Water account (managed to get through Your telephone support 2 weeks ago).

    I just need the confirmation that every penny is paid while me living in the previous address.

    Thank You for Your time.

    Kind Regards,
    Daniel

    Hi DanielS35,

    We can look into this matter for you. Would you mind providing the following details via PM:

    - Name;
    - Address;
    - Contact Number; and
    - Confirmation that you are the account holder.

    Thanks in advance,
    Niall

    Your landlord can't withhold the deposit if the bill is in your name. Once you are the registered account holder with Irish Water the payment has nothing to do with the landlord. The landlord no longer has liability once the tenant is registered.

    You're right it seems.
    Information from this forum posted 9th Sep confirms the what You just stated.
    It seems like it is confusing information with what I found on PTRB webpage where it sort of allows landlord to withhold the deposit till every penny is paid:

    Can you not just show him a printout of your account from the website?

    I don't have WPRN from the new property so cannot register.
    Trying to register with my account number and WPRN from old address fails of course.
    Phone support from Irish Water stated that there is no such an account.
    Pretty confusing...
