change location of fire alarm

    Hi all,

I'm in the process of renovating my apartment. I have 2 fire alarms connected to the main building alarm. Of course, such alarms are right in the center of the ceiling. I am planning to move them to one of the corners or even replace them with something nicer looking.

Can these alarms be moved around? Would doing something like that void any insurance claims?

    Thanks!

More of an electrical query, but as long as the changes are carried out by a suitably qualified person who is able to sign off his work then there should be no insurance issues. Moving a sensor to the corner of the ceiling will reduce its effectiveness though.
