Amazon Fire TV stick

  • Not only is the content limited for Prime Video in Ireland, it's becoming clear that the Fire TV/Stick is not usable for Prime Video content in Ireland - save for the Watch While Abroad stuff...

    Huh ?

Your joking, now that they finally launch their tv service (albeit a limited service), you can't use a firestick to watch it ?

Are you sure about that - it defies belief given the firestick is their key selling point ?

    Thanks,

    G.

Nope. Not a joke. The only content that plays is their "Watch While Abroad" content. Everything else is geoblocked....

  • Yeah it's a mess, amazon is not quite like netflix, their back end is tied deep into everything else amazon does so you have to be an officially supported country by amazon for it all to work right.

What amazon should have done is launched a separate amazon global video app and anyone who is not in a proper amazon supported country can use that to get access to amazon's content that has global distribution rights.

They are sorting of doing that now updating some of the existing amazon apps like the xbox amazon app doesn't normally appear but it might once the changes go through.

Are you sure, . I thought that like me if you have a UK prime account, adding Ireland to it's offering gives you no more options.

However if you sign up for the Irish service you get services, not great but more than a prime UK account in Ireland
