Asking for a friend......... Would people generally fly to New York, Geneva or even Heathrow to purchase a Rolex? I can't decide which piece to go for, but would be happy to make a decision on the spot.

I researched this a while back. Gassan in Amsterdam airport is good value because they pay they discount the Vat. What you see is what you get though in terms of available stock unless you can maybe pay the full price over the phone before your journey and collect. Rolex international price list attached for your viewing pleasure - although as my Mrs pointed out the woman's prices are missing:)

If you are heading abroad (outside eu) then you will be liable for vat on your return.

I bought my new Datejust II from the guys at chrono-lounge in Germany. They had good prices and you can go to their office which is just a room in their apartment. They're in a small town called Weisshorn near Ulm. Nice guys. Google them and see what you think. They're on Chrono24 too.

You need io decide what you want first really and then decide where you can get it for the best price. The internetz can help you with the price bit but you'll need to know what you want first really. Exchange rates have eliminated a number of what would have been good options
