1. https://www.watergrant.ie/ says "IMPORTANT: The closing date for applications for the 2015 Water Conservation Grant is 08 October 2015." I understand this was extended to 22 October: http://www.rte.ie/news/2015/1008/733201-water/ but the website has not been changed

2. Following several contacts with Irish Water and the Water Conservation Grant, it seems that Irish Water haven't yet sent my file to the DSP. Irish Water have demanded lots of extra information, but haven't said when they might send the file.

How can we resolve this?

3. I get the impression that lots of people are in this category. At least, tell us what is happening.

I received this email today.
RE: Complaint: Unable to apply for Water Conservation Grant - file not sent by Irish Water
From <snip>@environ.ie
To: Victor

Dear Victor

Thank you for your email.

The closing date for receipt of applications for the 2015 Water Conservation Grant has been extended by 2 weeks to 22 October 2015. Irish Water have advised that they are working on cases where valid registrations were made but this information was not forwarded to the Department of Social Protection (DSP) as part of the initial data transfer. If, following engagement with Irish Water you satisfy the eligibility criteria your information will be forwarded to DSP in the coming weeks. The Department of Social Protection will then issue a communication to this group of people with instructions on how to apply for the grant.

The eligibility criteria for the water conservation grant are set out in the Water Services Act 2014 (Water Conservation Grant) Regulations 2015. Under regulation 5(1) a person who registers with Irish Water, as required under section 5(2)(a) of the Water Services Act 2014, on or before 30 June 2015 shall be eligible to receive the grant in 2015 if they were normally resident at the principal private residence on that date.

Changes to the watergrant.ie website are in system test at the moment and it is expected that the changes will be applied to the live site either later today or early tomorrow.

Regards,

Hi joujoujou,

Thanks for contacting us.

If you registered your details at your primary residence with Irish Water on or before June 30th of this year, you are eligible to apply for this year's Water Conservation Grant. If you didn't register by this date, you are ineligible to apply for this year's grant payment and as such, would not receive correspondence on how to apply.

If there's anything that you would like us to investigate, please send us a PM with the following information:

Your name;
Address;
Contact Number and;
Further details of your query.

Kind regards,
Amy.

I registered with Irish Water back in April, but received no letter from the Department of Social Protection with my TIN.

I rang the Water Conservation Grant hotline before the last deadline a few weeks ago. The operator informed me that some letters had been delayed because of the postal strike. He said not to worry about it, but to call back if no letter came.

No letter came. I rang back last Monday. A new Operator told me that he was sending out a replacement letter (although it was replacing nothing). No letter came.

Today I rang back again. The Operator told me not to worry about the deadline, but to ring back next week if no letter comes. They are still trying to get through the letters, she said.

I have had no problem with receiving any other post. ESB bills, Irish Water bills, telephone bills  jury service letters, political pamphlets (and other junk-mail) find their way to my hall door at 11am every day without fail.

Is this an issue that anyone else is having or am I unique?

Hi Derby Deasy,

Thanks for getting in touch with us.

Once you've registered your details with Irish Water on or before June 30th of this year, you are deemed eligible to apply for the Water Conservation Grant. If a customer receives correspondence from the Dept. of Social Protection after today's deadline, they will still be able to apply for this year's grant payment.

If you have any further queries, please don't hesitate to let us know and we will be happy to help.

Thanks,
Amy.

Irish Water cannot speak for the Dept of Social protection.  They are administering the grant - so how can Irish Water staff say that grant applications will be accepted after 22nd October when all the information on the WaterGrant website says otherwise?   Can you point us to where some Govt department has said that the grant applications will be accepted after 22nd October?

Thanks

I've spoken to the Water Conservation Grant and for people who haven't been issued a TIN, they will be still able to apply past the deadline.

I wonder why that is not being communicated to the general public ?

Hi Victor,

Thanks for contacting us.

As TINs are issued by the Department of Social Protection, we would suggest that you contact them on 1890 100 043 for further assistance with this query. Their phone lines are open from 9:30am-5pm, Monday to Friday.

I hope this helps.
