Hi folks, I'm looking for recommendations for a nice spa hotel within 2 hours of mid-Cork (I spend a disgusting amount of time on the Cork / Dublin road so I don't want to hit that road if I can help it) - ideally Kerry / Limerick / Kilkenny...........preferably somewhere that isn't child friendly and somewhere I can sit with a book (but not in the foyer of a hotel)........this is my SUMMER holiday and I probably won't get there for another few weeks so would appreciate recommendations from boardsies :)

Monart is adult only, pricey but worth it, should tick all your box's

I can second Monart. Worth the money if you have it.

No 1 Pery square Limerick. Beautiful hotel and fab spa. Not a family hotel as such so should be no children around. GReat restaurants in Limerick and nice things to do for break away

This is a nice, old fashioned, kind of quirky hotel because of the way it fits into an old Georgian building or two & I would recommend if the OP is looking for a city break hotel with a spa (which is pretty small), lovely staff & food, the nightly rate is expensive enough, residents can use the steam rooms & sauna, Monart is a destination spa, you only have to get dressed if you want to eat dinner in the main restaurant otherwise just stay in your bath robe & have dinner in the bar area if you cant be arsed getting dressed, it's total unwind & chill out, they have two relaxation rooms, one light (ideal for reading a book) one dark for total relaxation
Rural location but Enniscorthy is closeby, to be honest everything you need is in Monart & the food is of a very high quality, you can probably tell I'm a fan

    Seafield in Wexford

Seafield was a fab stay for us, I had a a wrap treatment and massage and it was amazing, the pool area is brilliant too, and has an outdoor heated pool too! Rainforest showers, Turkish mud, sauna, solarium and more! Try their Facebook for offers! Well worth it! And child free which was what we needed at the time too!

I just booked the seafield earlier this week, looks like a lovely spot, just going for a day spa, I'm pregnant so doing a mummy package and himself is getting a manly package, place looks fab, and my dealings with the staff so far is extremely positive, from reviews on trip advisor the beach by the hotel is a must for a walk.

Yes the walk to the beach is fab! It's through a small woods/forest with a small river down to the beach, the beach is small but beautiful! Wrap up though as it was windy and cold when we were down!

    Thanks for all the suggestions

have been to Seafield and it's fab - I'm a fan of Hayfield's spa in Cork so somewhere like that would be fab

anyone stayed in the Newpark in Kilkenny

re Pery Square, there's no parking there is that the case?

New park in kilkenny would be very family & child friendly
If looking for a spa type break try the lyrath, but again families are very welcomed.
    Maybe mount juliet in thomastown?
