Hi, hoping someone can help me out, I have a sky TV box but was hoping to set up saorview on another TV with an indoor aerial, its a rental house, the landlord mentioned that the coverage wasn't great but that was for analogue though. I checked the saorview coverage map and it recommends Mount Leinster, I am in south tipp, far away from there. Just wondering does anyone have a recommendation for a good aerial for low reception and/or a booster that could be used?

The broadcasters recommend an outdoor aerial on the roof so that is what you must use.

Boosters don't work on indoor aerials as they are designed to overcome the loss on a long cable from the aerial and must be situated at the aerial not the receiver.

All the same Winston, you must be impressed that the OP spelt aerial correctly.

I hope you find someone in your area who has experience with an indoor aerial.
Just because it has been posted that you MUST use an outdoor aerial doesn't mean that indoor aerials don't work --- they do .
I live over 100 miles from Mt Leinster and can receive perfect signals using an indoor aerial.
I speak from experience of receiving the Saorview service .....
    Regards

A misspelling typo is completely different from using the wrong word.

No one will be able to guarantee that you will get indoor reception. South Tipperary isn't a place I'm familiar with but if the terrain between your home and the transmitter site doesn't have many natural obstructions then your chances increase - for example I've almost 70km clear line-of-sight to Truskmore, and I can comfortably get Saorview with an indoor aerial through windows facing the direction of the transmitter. But half a mile away at a relatives' getting Saorview even with an outdoor aerial can be iffy without an amp.

In the likes of Argos the indoor aerials they sell tend to be flat plates or loops with extendable "rabbit ears" which are fine in very strong signal areas, but not where you want to get something where your options are a compromise. Those that look like outdoor TV aerials are the best option here in my opinion (link here for example on eBay). In built amps are generally a gimmick - in a few cases it might help but often it's of no use and might actually make reception worse.

Be aware that the Saorview checker just gives suggestions as to what they reckon is the strongest transmitter that serves you - there may be several different ones available.

If you're having trouble sourcing an outdoor-style indoor TV aerial, then a small log-periodic aerial could be used that gives a small footprint. But don't forget also to have some cable and a Belling-Lee plug handy too.
