I'll be back playing in November and I want to build up some endurance. I know I won't be able to complete the C25K program, but would it be a good start?

It will help absolutely. Why won't you be able to complete it?

What standard of soccer are you playing?

C25K is generally for those with very poor fitness, trying to get from barely being able to run for 10 seconds, to completing 5K. You'd hardly be at this low level of fitness if you play soccer? Unless it's local 5-a-side kick about with a bunch of mates you are talking about.

Also, while long runs would be good for general fitness, 400/800m training is probably more useful for soccer given the nature of the sport.

It is a 5-a-side kick-about more or less. That's what I'm worried about though - I don't want to undergo the program only to find it doesn't really help with soccer fitness, with sprinting a key element.

I meant complete the program before the season starts.

Everybody should be able to run 5K.
Use it as a way to build general/base fitness before doing specific training.

If you need a C25k program, you should be grand for being the goalie.

look up fartlek training on a football pitch

if you play 5 aside i reckon you could at least jog 5k. See if there's a park run in your area
