Average usage

Hi, is there a way to find out the current average usage for a two person household?

Some people seem to be paying less than the flat charge, however, if we were paying the metered charge we would be paying more. I'd like to know if our usage is excessive or normal (or if we potentially have a leak).

    Thanks.

    Hi Marlay,

    Thank you for contacting us.

A person uses on average 150 litres of water on a daily basis. Water charges are capped until 2018. Metered customers will always pay the lower rate for their services. For a example, a house containing two or more adults which is unmetered and avails of both water and wastewater services will be charged a maximum of 260EUR for the year.

If a property availing of the same services has a meter installed and use less than the capped charge, the property will pay the lower rate. If the metered property uses above the capped charges they will only pay the capped charge rather than the higher figure. For more information on charges, please see here.

There is an easy leak detection method that you can use if you think there might be a potential leak on you property. Please click here for information on how to detect a leak.

I hope you find this information helpful. Please feel free to contact us should you have any other queries.

    Kind regards,
    Niall

We (2 adults & 2 kids) use an average of 300-350 liters per day. Nobody there during the day and have our own septic tank.

This would appear to be normal consumption for a four person household. Depending on what charge you are on i.e metered or unmetered the childhood allowance of 21,000 litres will appear on the bill or will automatically be incorporated into your unmetered charge.

I hope you find this information helpful. Please feel free to contact us should you have any other queries.
