TAX CREDITS ADVICE

    hello all a friend of mine asked me what tax credits he should have and i am not sure, he gets 95 euro tax credit per week, his wife is not working and he has 3 kids aged 1,7 and 11. the reason i ask is that i know of guys that i work with have credits of 105-110 euros and i am wondering could he get more credits. thanks for reading.

    He has already taken his spouse's personal tax credit. That is what has gotten him to 95. If his spouse doesn't work outside the home and isn't in receipt of any taxable income then he should claim the home carer's tax credit.

    thank you. one more question , would unemployment benefit count as an income in assessing what tax credits they would get from home carer tax credits ? thank you again

    If it's jobseekers benefit yes, if it's jobseekers allowance no.

    Sorry to be a pain. But one more question. His wife gets 86 euro per week family income supplement. Will this affect him getting an increase in his tax credits ?

    FIS is not a taxable source of income.

    thanks for your help , he is going to ring tax office monday morning,he just a lot happier ringing knowing what his entitlements are. i presume this can be backdated ?
