Octavia II main beam fault

I was asked to take a look at firends Octavia II. Basic lighting, no xenons etc.
The issue is that one headlamp main beam has failed but that bulb will light when checked on a battery plus the main beam on other side will only light for about 5 seconds before going off.
The main beam Blue light in the dash stays on when it should be on even when the headlight goes off.
If I pull back to flash lights, it will do the same thing - switch off after 5 seconds and still only one light works. All this came about together.
Will be having a proper look tomorrow but any ideas.
Are there relays on these light circuits and if so where are they located.
Does the stalk switch give any trouble on these - Doesnt appear to be switch, its a pretty set 5 seconds on, then turn off.
We will fit 2 new bulbs anyway cause he said he has them at home.

see attached image - ( may be mk1 but anyway) is wired to the central controller
you need a fault code reader that can read VW faults
