    Hi All,

I looked today at a 09 Mondeo with 100,000miles, very nice car I thought. Very solid on the road with nice power. Are there any particular faults or gremlins in the model? Anyone have any experience with this model?
    Many thanks
    John

Timing belt is the major issue with these, known to snap prematurely, and at 100k miles, it wants to be done now. It has the 2 belt setup, and is quite expensive to do. Circa 7/800 ish. Other then that, I haven't come across a lot more that goes drastically wrong. I have one for over 3 years now and there was 3/4 minor issues, but nothing that should excite you.

Do the petrol Mondeo's have the same belt setup?

That's great thank you... I've checked the full service book on it today but can't remember did I see that the timing belt had been changed. Will check with dealer on Monday! Presume it's 100k miles or 5 years for timing belts in these?

I assumed the op was on about the 1.8 tdci, and so went off on my rant. I'm not too up to date with the petrol versions, but I don't think it's anywhere near the cost to replace, and it only has the single belt afaik.

If it's the 1.8 tdci your looking at then Ford actually state 125k miles is the timing belt interval, but like I said, to be safe I would have it changed at 100k, too many horror stories. Ya, it's usually x amount of mileage or 5 years, whichever is first.
