Car Oil Focus MK1

    Hi all. I have a 99focus, petrol.
    I am confused as to what oil to get for it. I heard that fords usually take 5w40? and that is what my manual recommends. however while at halfords they told me i need 10w40 because of the age of the car :confused::confused::confused:

    what is the general consensus with car oil?

    Castrol recommends 5W-30 A5

    Thanks. I was told that even though the reconnection is 5w30 that I should the 10w40 as the car is old so the 5w30 burns quicker. . I'm a bit stumped tbh.

    Does it really matter?
